The pulled pork purveyor just secured permits for a new outpost on Navigation
It looks like Memphis barbecue stalwart Corky’s BBQ is finally opening a location — or an entirely new restaurant — in Houston’s inner loop.
Last week, Corky’s parent company, Squealing Pigs LLC, filed a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission permit for 2929 Navigation Boulevard. That’s across the street from El Tiempo and next to taqueria Villa Arcos in a neighborhood that has seen increasing growth since the Houston Metro’s light rail line was expanded east of Downtown.
It’s also possible that the minds behind Squealing Pigs LLC are working on an entirely new restaurant, called Acadian Coast. Details on that project are scant for now, but permit applications filed with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts indicate that Acadian Coast’s sales tax permit is set to become active on September 1.
Corky’s was first founded in Memphis in 1984, where barbecue is more focused on pork than Texas’s beef-obsessed barbecue scene. The restaurant’s expansion to Texas was announced two years ago, with the first location opening in 2019, then quickly closing ten months later, in Katy. A second location, in Cypress, is still open.
No word yet on when the restaurant’s first inner loop spot will open, but Eater has reached out for more details.
