Chef Ryan Lachaine will sling fried fish sandwiches, poutine, and Nanaimo bars via a new cloud kitchen
Because innovation is perhaps more important than ever during these truly weird times, Riel chef Ryan LaChaine is debuting a new pop-up sandwich shop inside his beloved Montrose restaurant.
Called Louie’s, the new pop-up will sling sandwiches, poutine, and more via a “cloud kitchen” inside Riel, according to a press release. The sandwiches will be available for curbside pick-up and delivery through DoorDash, which means that diners don’t even have to leave their cars to check out LaChaine’s latest offerings.
“I have a longstanding obsession with sandwiches, and I’ve always wanted to have a sandwich place,” LaChaine said in a statement. “We get to the restaurant every day around 11 a.m. for prep and don’t open until 5 p.m. anyway, and we’ve had a lot of time on our hands these past few months.”
The menu for Louie’s is pretty simple, with options like fried fish sandwiches with dill tartar sauce and a pizza sub with pepperoni, salami, capicola, and marinara sauce on offer. He’ll also serve Riel’s famed butter burgers, along with Canadian favorites like poutine and Nanaimo bars.
Louie’s will officially make its debut on Thursday, August 13. Takeout and delivery will be available from noon to 5 p.m., and orders can be placed via the Riel website.
