Amaro cocktails and chic European dishes await
Hotly-anticipated Mediterranean-influenced restaurant Ostia will open this Friday in the Montrose.
The restaurant, helmed by chef and native Houstonian Travis McShane, is set to open for dinner service at 5 p.m. at 2050 Dunlavy Street on Friday, September 25. Before this project, McShane served as corporate chef for mega-restaurateur Jonathan Waxman’s empire, overseeing operations at the chef’s restaurants in New York City, San Francisco, Nashville, and Atlanta. He’s also spent time in the kitchens of Barbuto in New York and Adele’s in Nashville.
Ostia’s menu is based on “seasonality and spontaneity,” with frequently-rotated dishes like fluke crudo topped with citrus and tarragon; summery vegetable gnocchi with cherry tomatoes and corn; juicy hangar steak served with romesco sauce; plus tasting menus. Beverages will include amaro-focused cocktails, wine, and local beer. The restaurant itself features a greenhouse-like space with retractable walls and a large outdoor patio. Diners can also place curbside orders by calling the restaurant at 713-324-9288.
For now, Ostia will be open for dinner only, with plans to expand to breakfast and lunch at a later date. Hours will be 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 5-11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5-9 p.m. Sunday.
